BABYSITTING SUGARPAW started as a short story, which was published under the name "Sugarpaw and the Babysitter" in Storybox Library. The illustrator, Kevin Scott Collier, really enjoyed the story and a few fellow writing friends as well. But it wasn't until VS Grenier met Lisa Umina at Halo Publishing that the idea of turning the short story into a picture book really came about.

The story is based on true events from VS Grenier’s childhood. She was much like Sugarpaw and didn't like being left with babysitters. VS Grenier also had a knack for creating trouble for those watching her. Sugarpaw and Bonnie Whiskers are characters everyone reading the book can relate to and will have many more adventures in the future as VS Grenier is working on two more books for the series.
