Spanning sixty five years and three continents, from Hitler's Europe to the decaying Societ Empire of the 70's and learning about the histoyr of Sosua, a Jewish settlement in the Jungles we understand why Rothman was so embittered, close to the Dominicans in his neighborhood and begin to see why he abandoned his faith.

Are you Overscheduling your teen? on The Empowerment Show with Irene Roth

This is The Empowerment Show on Blog Talk Radio's Featured World of Ink Network. Irene Roth is the host of this show as well as an author, editor, and freelance writer. She has published an empowerment for teens entitled "Seasons of Empowerment for Adolescent Girls" and also has a picture book published entitled "Courage." Learn more about the host at https://irenesroth.wordpress.com

This week on The Empowerent Show Irene Roth and Traci McDonald will be chatting about if we as adults are overscheduling our teens.

When kids and teens complain of being overscheduled and overwhelmed, we should definitely pause to take a new look at our lives and reprioritize them. Our kids are way too young to feel overscheduled. And if we, as parents, teach them that it is okay, or worse, meritorious to be busy all the time, we can be setting them up for a life time of exhaustion and lack of success. Not only that but they will feel dissatisfied and stressed out all the time.

Here are a few questions to ask yourself and your teens or kids:
  1. What does your child enjoy? Does she/he enjoy playing sports? What kind of sport?
  2. Does your teen enjoy music/dancing? What type does she/he enjoy?
  3. Does your teen do extracurricular activities?
  4. Does your child/teen feel overwhelmed at school?
The World of Ink Network brings you shows each week on topics such as books, writing, interviews, self-help, empowerment, families and much more.

Phillip Margolin on World Of Ink -Book Discussion - Host Fran Lewis

Blog talk radio, Book discussion and your host Fran Lewis would like to welcome New York Times best selling author Phillip Margolin.

Woman with a Gun is his new title inspired by a picture of a woman on the beach in a wedding dress holding a gun behind her back. The author saw this picture in a men's washroom, asked to purchase the rights and the picture and created a plot based on the picture.

Stacey Kim needs to create a spark in her writing career. Seeing this photo at a NY Museum sparks her interest and she is determined to learn more about the picture, who the woman is, why she was holding a gun and what was going through her mind. As the author flashes back ten years to the murder that involved the woman in the photo and five more to 2000, we learn the connection between the lawyer investigating the murder and the key players.

Phillip will answer questions about the book, talk about his next book and discuss how he created the plot and the three time periods for the novel.

I am your host Fran Lewis the author of the Faces Behind the Stones series, editor of MJ Magazine and my latest upcoming release: In Her Own Words.

Book Review: Shadow TEARS by A.J. Tupps

Have you ever wondered who lives in the shadows?  Selena Goodwin knows it is not just the boogey man but another realm.  Selena discovers herself in an entirely different world from her own and must adapt to her new life she did not know she had.  Suddenly she is plunged into a world of secrets, deception and death.  This time in her life was supposed to be the best.  Then again that would only happen if she could learn to trust more than her adoptive father.  How will she find out how to become the woman she is destined to be?  Selena doesn’t just face the challenges of maturing, falling in love but must learn to survive as a child made of three worlds.  Not only that but she must rely on people she never expected to enter her life.  All her interest of mythology, lore and the paranormal are tested in reality.  Who said growing up was easy?  They hadn’t lived, have they?

This book is a YA novel, however, it is loaded with mythology, paranormal, fantasy and much more. I like historical based stories and the elements of history mixed with fantasy in this story were a surprise as I read. The idea behind the plot is there are another realms and the one of shadows really captured my imagination. As a new author, it would be hard to balancing the different realms, but Tupps did a beautiful job in keeping it all straight and engaging.

This story is like no other I have read for a long time. It is filled with angst and it is difficult not to empathize with Selena. But she overcomes so much grief and hardship for a girl her age. What was also wonderful about this book and a typical theme among YA novels is the coming of age story plot. Readers of all ages will be able to relate to the characters and understand the pains of growing up not only in our own world, but in alternate realms as well.

Title of Book: Shadow Tears
Publisher: Halo Publishing, Int.

Places where book is available for sale: Halo Publishing, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Ingram Distributing, Nook, Kindle, B. Dalton, Bowker Books, and many
