Story Time From Outer Space - The Stories for Children Show

Listen to the Stories for Children Show Monday June 30, 2014 at 6pm Eastern - 5pm Central - 4pm Mountain - 3pm Pacific for a special treat - Stories read by Astronauts on the International Space Station!

Mom's Choice & Award-winning Author Virginia S Grenier will be talking about Story Time From Space (STFS), a project of the Global Space Flight Education Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit. For more information visit www.storytimefromspace.com

Grenier will be hosting astrophysicist and author Jeffrey Bennett, who launched five books to the International Space Station on January 9. The first book making an appearance is “Max Goes to the International Space Station” read by Astronaut Mike Hopkins from the space station’s seven window observatory, known as the Cupola. The books were selected by the founders Alvin Drew and space educator Patricia Tribe for their solid science and inspirational stories. The books are a perfect spring board for the coming science demonstrations this fall.

To fund the program, STFS has launched a Kickstarter campaign!
Grenier, with her guest Jeffery Bennett, hope to not only share their love of the written word, but also what makes a good book for young readers and much more.

Interview with Lisa S. Roberts, children's author - The Writing Mama Show on BlogTalkRadio

The Writing Mama show is on every Monday and is hosted by Mom's Choice and Award-winning Author Virginia S Grenier, who is joined weekly by guest authors to talk about the publishing and writing industry. Grenier, with her guests, hope to not only share their love of the written word, but also tips on writing, what makes a good book and much more.

This weeks guest is Lisa S. Roberts, author of a 29-book adventure for children, middle school age.
Back to the Basics with Aydan & Addy – “Leadership with Abraham Lincoln” (Tate Publishing) kicks off this series, which is both historical and magical, with leadership mentor, President Abraham Lincoln.
The series features best friends, Aydan and Addy, being led by a different Spiritual Mentor in each magical adventure.

Tremendous research has gone into each book, with Roberts studying the actual lives and historical legacy of the “spirit mentors” in each book.

“There are so many challenges we face in America today, and life in general,” the author says. “I thought for a long time about the importance of getting back to basics and teaching some fundamental values to children through a series of fun and adventurous stories.”

The character Aydan is modeled after Roberts’ own young grandson and Addy is named for the granddaughter of a family friend.

“Beckmin goes to School” is meant to raise awareness for celiac disease and the everyday challenges children with celiac disease face in their otherwise normal activities.  As diagnosis of celiac disease increases, education, awareness, and understanding will be the keys to making celiac kids feel normal and included. Written for children to help them express and understand celiac disease, the book is a wonderful tool for children and adults alike.

Author Bio:
Christy is an award-winning public relations and marketing practitioner, as well as a wife and mother. She lives and works in Cleveland, Ohio, with her husband, Benjamin, raising their three boys and spreading awareness about celiac disease and the need for a gluten-free environment for individuals diagnosed with celiac disease.

“Beckmin Goes to School” is Christy’s first children’s book, and was inspired by her middle son, Beckmin, who was diagnosed with celiac disease at 18 months, after extensive sickness and a series of hospital visits.  Since then, Christy has worked with Beckmin through the everyday challenges of being a kid with this disease, dealing with his frustrations and his own learning curve as to what celiac disease is, how to explain it, and what it means in his day-to-day life. Beckmin’s stories, written to help children define, understand, and explain celiac disease, are meant to be both empowering and educational for kids and their parents.

The World of Ink Network will be touring author Christy E. Bykowski's kid friendly celiac disease awareness picture book, Gluten-Free Me: Beckmin Goes to School January 2014.
