HI-
Just to let everyone know Madison Montgomery is Marsha Casper Cook. I thought I should go under that name for my new radio show but I really think that because I have done over 300 shows I will go as Marsha Casper Cook/ Madison Montgomery. For those of you that don't know me I constantly try new things so I can help other authors. I am always open to suggestion because that is the best way to learn. I have done this for so many years and know in my heart this is a very tough game to be in. I am always available to answer questions about writing and screenplays. So if you have one don't be afraid to ask. I may be able to help but if not I will be happy to fins someone that can help you. I will tell you why I have decided to open this topic for discussion. During the last several months some of the guests on my shows have not been as helpful to authors or as positive as I hoped they would be. I am right there with all of you and I truly believe if we all start to share and help each other we will all be more successful but most importantly happier! Virginia Grenier is my partner in WORLD OF INK SHOWS and she is also there for new authors as well as seasoned authors. If there are some topics you would like discussed please let me know and we will try our best to help. Marsha Cook -

Spotlight: Author Hadiyah Joan Carlyle on Tour
The World of Ink Network will be
touring author Hadiyah Joan Carlyle’s riveting memoir, Torch in the Dark: One Woman’s Journey
in May 2013.
“Hadiyah pulls her life together in a Bellingham shipyard
using a welding rod and a tough as nails attitude…No one has even come close to
the depth and detail of the sixties that Carlyle reaches.” ~Jack Remick, The
Deification and Blood
About the Book:
Torch in the Dark
tells the moving story of how Hadiyah Joan Carlyle, a single mother haunted by
memories of her own traumatic childhood, pioneered as one of the first women
since World War II to enter the trades as a union welder. Beginning in a Jewish
immigrant neighborhood in New Jersey, the story moves through San Francisco’s
colorful Haight-Ashbury in the sixties to arrive at Fairhaven Shipyard in
Bellingham, Washington. For Hadiyah, welding become a metaphor for healing from
the dark past as well as a path to self-reliance and economic survival.
While providing insightful perspective on the culture of the
1960’s and 1970’s, Torch in the Dark
offers profound inspiration for anyone struggling with issues of abuse and
oppression.
Publisher:
Book Publishers Network; 1st edition (March 20, 2012)
ISBN-10:
1937454231
ISBN-13:
978-1937454234
Genre: Memoir
Available in Print & eBook
What Readers are Saying:
“Torch in the Dark" tells the author's story through a
series of tightly crafted vignettes and flashbacks. As many women of her era,
Joan Carlyle was raised without defined ambition or skills, even the domestic
ones. Estranged from her parents, she often felt alone and out of place. She
entered adulthood not knowing who she was. She drifted and drifted. Her stories
remind us how "freedom" isn't always free. Eventually she became an
activist, a mother and a welder.” ~Lucky Charlie
“In prose as hot as her welding torch, Hadiyah Carlyle
transports the reader to a time early in the women's movement that must never
be forgotten. As one of the first female welders in the West Coast shipyards,
Carlyle paved the way for women working in the trades today. You will applaud
her strength in sharing this powerful story.” ~Arleen Williams, The
Thirty-Ninth Victim

About the Author:
Hadiyah Joan Carlyle grew up in a Jewish immigrant
neighborhood in New Jersey, became active in the Civil Right movement of the
sixties and migrated to San Francisco’s colorful Haight-Ashbury to be part of
the counter-culture there. In the seventies, she was the first and only female
shipyard welder in Bellingham, Washington, north of Seattle.
In the eighties, Hadiyah returned to the East coast to earn
her MSW at Rutgers University. In 2003, she completed the certificate program
in Memoir Writing through the University of Washington Extension. She is an active
member of Seattle’s thriving community of writers.
Today Hadiyah lives in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood
close to her son, Washington State 36th district Legislator Reuven
Carlyle, his wife Dr. Wendy Carlyle and their four children. Activist, hiker,
devoted grandmother, Hadiyah delights in the wild beauty of the Northwest while
remaining connected to her gritty urban East Coast roots.
Though welding is no longer a part of her life, she
continues to carry the torch for the empowerment of the oppressed.

Debut Author L.R.W. Lee on the Stories for Children Show - Featured Blog Talk Radio World of Ink Network
The Stories for Children show airs on Mondays here on the Featured World of Ink Network. Host Virginia S Grenier brings listeners Best-selling to Debut children's and young adult authors.
This week our guest will debut author L.R.W. Lee, who is touring her middle grade fantasy adventure, Andy Smithson: Blast of the Dragon’s Fury (Book 1) throughout May 2013.
If you love fast-paced adventures with unexpected twists, there’s plenty of action and suspense found throughout the Land of Oomaldee.
Since the age of eight, L.R.W. Lee knew she wanted to write a book. Fortunately or unfortunately, she required of herself that she have something significant to say; she sought to contribute to others in a way that could change their lives. Because a degree in Accounting at Cedarville University, as well as work in public and corporate accounting, did not provide riveting fodder for a best seller, she waited. Upon selling her business in early 2012, she had time to write and, more importantly, something significant to share.

Molly's book is, Smarty Pig. In the story the school year has started but the pigs have given up on school and aren't doing their homework. All but one, that is. Smarty Pig is working hard. Although she gets teased, her report card shows her hard work, while the others fail. They reach out to her, and she becomes their tutor. By creating games in their home that practice skills, Smarty Pig shows them that they can learn, and it's really fun after all. She helps them understand that learning is not just for school, it's for life. http://www.halopublishing.com/bookstore/Smarty-Pig
In Bradybug, Donna's book, what happens when you call a male bug a lady? He gets annoyed and points out all the other male animals that wouldn't be mistaken for females. In a book that's both fact-filled and fun, tell a delightful story of a spirited little bug that provides a unique perspective on why names can be deceiving.
